CASA
CASA is actively engaged in learning, research, and training initiatives that support national and community-based efforts to reduce substance abuse. In collaboration with other treatment centres and the National Council on Substance Abuse (NCSA), CASA contributes to demand reduction strategies in Prevention, Treatment, Rehabilitation, and Research as outlined in the Barbados National Anti-Drug Plan.
Through these initiatives, CASA plays an important role in strengthening the knowledge base around substance abuse and its impact on individuals, families, and communities. The organization is committed to continuous learning and the development of effective, evidence-informed approaches that improve outcomes for those affected by substance use and related challenges.
CASA also places a strong emphasis on capacity building by providing opportunities for training, mentorship, and practical experience. These programs are designed to equip students, professionals, and community members with the skills and understanding needed to effectively respond to substance abuse issues in a variety of settings.
These training opportunities allow participants to gain hands-on experience while working alongside experienced professionals in the field. Participants are exposed to real-world situations that enhance their understanding of addiction, recovery, and the importance of compassionate, client-centered care.
CASA’s learning initiatives also support ongoing professional development, ensuring that staff and volunteers remain informed about current trends, research, and best practices in substance abuse prevention and treatment. This commitment to continuous improvement helps maintain high standards of service delivery across all programs.
